Mellow yellow sits between gold and cream, warm but never loud. The hex code #ccaa67 carries low saturation and medium lightness, which gives it a soft, grayed glow. Black text reads clearly on it at about 9.5:1 contrast, so it holds up behind body copy. Use it as a warm base in spring or baby themes, paired with deep navy, and lean on its grayed undertone, the same principle behind how to make gray.
