How do I use the color palette generator?
ColorKit color palette generator allows you to quickly create a color scheme. Get started by clicking the generate button to find new colors or selecting colors for your palette using the color picker. Unsure what color to add to your palette? Hovering over a color will reveal a plus button that will give you a few color swatch ideas to add to your palette.
The tool also allows you to check the color contrast ratios of all combinations of your colors. More advanced users can select the color palette generation method using the settings button. This will let you select between analogous, monochromatic, complementary, split-complementary, triadic, and tetrad. The options page also allows you to sort the palette by brightness which is helpful for monochromatic color schemes.

How do I get a color palette from a picture?
If you want to generate a color palette from a picture you can use our color palette from image tool. This tool will automatically grab dominate colors of your image and create a color palette. After importing a picture you can also bring it into our color palette editor.
How do I save a color palette?
After creating a color palette with the color scheme generator you can export the palette by clicking the export button. This will give you options to export your palette as a PNG, copy the hex values as a CSV or array, and even copy a URL to share the palette with others. If you’re logged in you can also click save to save the palette to your account with a name. After a color palette is saved you can easily access the color palette hex codes.

Selecting colors for your website? Likely you’ll want to select a neutral color to use for backgrounds like a shade of light blue. A darker color for heading text along with a lighter variant for paragraph text. After these are selected you can also pick an ascent color like orange or green for call to action buttons.
